MTA Long Island Rail Road, Moynihan Station

Project type

Transit Signage Design & Installation NYC

Location

New York City, Penn Station

At Architectural Sign Group (ASG), we were proud to support the Metropolitan Transportation Authority (“MTA”) and the Moynihan Station Development Corporation on the major transit-wayfinding project at Moynihan Train Hall in New York City. ASG was contracted to provide comprehensive signage solutions across both interior identification / directional signage and exterior identification systems for the facility serving the Long Island Rail Road (LIRR).

Our scope included engineering, fabricating, and installing high-visibility alphanumeric and graphic signage to guide thousands of daily commuters through this newly-reimagined transportation hub. With design intent based on clear wayfinding hierarchies (macro to micro level) we delivered:

Custom-fabricated aluminum panels and tubular frames for exterior and interior signage systems, finished to complement the architectural environment.

Wayfinding signage using bold typographic and color cues, in alignment with the broader facility’s design standards, to direct inbound/outbound passengers, platform access and connections.

Installation coordination across a large-scale public transit environment, managing logistics, on-site mounting, and integration with structural interfaces, lighting, and digital display zones.

Project management from concept through completion: including shop drawings, materials selection, installation scheduling, and on-site supervision – ensuring the signage system met performance, durability, and aesthetic demands of a high-traffic transit environment.

Signage systems built to meet ASTM, accessibility, and transit industry performance standards—including durability under heavy use, high readability, and consistent branding.

This project demonstrates ASG’s expertise in transit signage, wayfinding systems, and large-scale architectural identity installations that enhance both passenger experience and facility performance.
